According to the proposed date of thesis submission for oral defence

With effect from the 2021-22 academic year, the University will have three degree conferment dates in each year, i.e., 31 March, 31 July, and 15 October

Only final thesis/portfolio submission which reaches the GSO by the respective deadlines can be considered in accordance with the degree conferment schedules. Degrees will be conferred on the nearest conferment date upon fulfilling graduation requirements and receiving Senate’s approval

Subject to Senate approval, students who submit the final version of their theses on or before 31 August would normally have their degrees conferred within the same year

Student to submit thesis to Graduate Division (for dispatch to internal examiners) and Graduate School (for dispatch to external examiner(s) where appropriate) by the proposed date of thesis submission after the external examiner(s) accept the invitation for oral defence arrangement

Graduate Division to return assessment reports to Graduate School in one week's time upon receiving assessment report(s) of external examiner(s)
