Students are required to write a research thesis which will make an original contribution to English literary studies. They are expected to have an excellent command of English, the official language of the thesis. In addition to the thesis, students must pass a qualifying examination within the first year of study before they can be advanced to PhD candidature.

The tuition fee will be HK$49,500 for 2027/28, regardless of the study mode.
In addition to the general requirements of the Graduate School, applicants should have majored in Literature or subjects in a related field. Applicants are expected to hold a Master’s degree or MPhil awarded by this University or a recognized university.

- Research proposal (1,500 words)
