B. System Requirements
Q1. What browser should I use to access the Online Study Plan and Progress Report?
A. CUSIS is compatible with most common desktop and mobile browsers. For specific version requirements, please visit https://www.cuhk.edu.hk/cusis/com/cusis-PCrequirement.pdf.
C. Enquiries – Students
Q1. What should I do when seeing this error message "You cannot access this function"?
A. This likely indicates a setting issue with the "Supervisor-in-charge" or "Programme Administrator". Contact your Graduate Division for assistance.
Q2. Can I view my previous Study Plan(s) and Progress Report(s)?
A. Yes, access completed submissions via CUSIS:
MyCUHK > CUSIS > Academic Progress > Study Plan & Progress (RPG) > Section 8 "Progression Milestones" > "Previous Study Plan & Progress Report (s)" > "View previous report".
Study Plan Stage
Q3. Do I need to submit a Study Plan?
A. All research postgraduate students must submit a Study Plan (beginning of year) and Progress Report (end of year). These are reviewed by your Supervisor/Co-Supervisor(s) and endorsed by the Head of Graduate Division. This process aids in monitoring your progress and providing timely advice. Discuss your Study Plan with your Supervisor before submitting via CUSIS. Students who have suspended studies in the whole academic year will be exempted from the submission of the said documents.
Q4. I'm a new student, but I can't find the "Study Plan & Progress Report" button after logging into MyCUHK.
A. Ensure you're using your 10-digit Student ID and OnePass Password, not the "Online Registration Login ID" starting with "R".
Q5. I can log in to the online system but can't submit a Study Plan.
A. Submission is possible under certain Study Plan statuses i.e., “Not yet accessed by student”, “Not yet submitted/resubmitted by student”, “Returned by Division” and “Returned by Supervisor”. If returned for amendment, you'll receive an email.
Q6. Where can I input comments?
A. Comments can be added when completing the Progress Report at the academic year's end. The Study Plan does not include a comment section. This allows for a comprehensive review of your yearly progress.
Q7. I would like to fill in the completion details, but the fields are dimmed.
A. Completion details are captured in the Progress Report at the academic year's end, not in the Study Plan. This ensures accurate reporting of your accomplishments throughout the year.
Q8. I have already reported completed courses/activities in the previous Progress Report, but these records still appear in the current Study Plan this year and I cannot delete them.
A. These records are intentionally retained for continuity. Previously endorsed Progress Report records are automatically carried forward to the next year's Study Plan, providing a comprehensive view of your academic journey.
Q9. I have input courses/activities in the Study Plan last year, but no record is shown in the Study Plan this year.
A. If the previous year's report wasn't completed (i.e., endorsed by the Graduate Division Head), records won't be carried forward. Check the report status via:
MyCUHK > CUSIS > Academic Progress > Study Plan & Progress (RPG) > Section 8 "Progression Milestones" > "Previous Study Plan & Progress Report (s)" > "View previous report" [status: "Report NOT completed"]
Q10. I have input courses/activities with the completion details in the Progress Report, but no record is shown in the Study Plan this year.
A. Only records from Progress Reports endorsed by the Head of Graduate Division are carried forward to the next year's Study Plan. Verify the report status via:
MyCUHK > CUSIS > Academic Progress > Study Plan & Progress (RPG) > Section 8 "Progression Milestones" > "Previous Study Plan & Progress Report (s)" > "View previous report" [status: "Report NOT completed"]
Q11. I plan to take courses with the same course code in different terms of the academic year, but the system does not allow so.
A. Courses with identical course codes should be entered only once per academic year. This prevents duplication and ensures accurate tracking of your coursework.
Q12. I have submitted my first draft of thesis and I cannot update my Study Plan.
A. After submitting your first draft of thesis, updating the Study Plan is no longer required. However, you can still view it for reference purposes.
Progress Report Stage
Q13. Do I need to submit a Progress Report?
A. Yes, all research postgraduate students must submit an annual Progress Report, except those who suspended studies for the entire academic year. This report is reviewed by your Supervisor and endorsed by the Head of Graduate Division. It's crucial to discuss the report with your Supervisor before submission via the Online Study Plan and Progress Report system.
Q14. I can log in the online system but I cannot submit a Progress Report.
A. Potential causes include:
- Browser compatibility issues (refer to System Requirements).
- Incomplete Study Plan submission or pending endorsement by the Head of Graduate Division.
- Submission is possible under specific Progress Report Statuses. If returned for amendments, you'll receive an email notification. Consult your Programme Administrator or Supervisor, then revise and resubmit as necessary.
Q15. Can I delete the input in the Study Plan or previous Report(s)?
A. Study Plan inputs need not be deleted as they serve planning purposes. Previously endorsed Progress Report records are archived and cannot be amended, ensuring data integrity.
Q16. I have submitted my first draft of thesis and I cannot update my Progress Report.
A. After submitting your first draft of thesis, you can view but are not required to complete the Progress Report. This acknowledges your transition to the final stages of your research programme.
