“Endless Learning and Innovative Research”

The 2024 CUHK(SZ)-CUHK Joint Graduate Research Forum, "Endless Learning and Innovative Research", marks the inaugural collaborative event between the Graduate Schools of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK(SZ)).

This joint forum provides a dynamic platform for postgraduate students from both campuses to share their research findings and engage in cross-cultural and interdisciplinary academic exchange with a view to further strengthen collaboration and create/sustain such links and networks among research groups. By fostering an environment for interdisciplinary communication and collaboration, the event aims to broaden the research horizons of the postgraduate students and enhance their overall quality of research.

Target: All current postgraduate students from CUHK and CUHK(SZ)

Activities:

Activity 1 - Academic Poster Exhibition

Participants are required to design and submit a maximum of 3 posters based on their research. The shortlisted entries will be uploaded to the event website and awards will be determined based on both the judges’ evaluations and online voting results from both CUHK and CUHK(SZ) students.

Poster Specifications:

• 120 (H) x 90cm (W)
• PDF file in 150 dpi
• Layout Orientation: Portrait
• Language: English
  

Applications which fail to follow the above specifications will be disqualified without prior notice.

Registration deadline: 5:30pm, 6 September 2024 (Friday)

Poster submission deadline: 5:30 pm, 11 October 2024 (Friday)

• Detailed submission procedures will be sent to the registrants in a separate email in late September.

Online voting period: 28 October 2024 – 5:30 pm, 1 November 2024

• The shortlisted entries will be uploaded to the event website and each CUHK and CUHK(SZ) student can vote once via the designated online voting form.
• Both the judges’ evaluations and online voting results from CUHK and CUHK(SZ) campuses will be consolidated to determine the list of award winners.
• The award results will be announced on 4 November 2024. The awardees will be invited to attend the award ceremony held at CUHK(SZ) on 8 November 2024.

Awards:

• 1st place x 1: RMB 400
• 2nd place x 1: RMB 320
• 3rd place x 1: RMB 240
• Participation Awards x 3
  
• Certificate of participation will also be awarded to all participants.

Assessment Criteria:

• Poster design
• Poster content
• Outcome of the research

Remarks:

• The prizes will be deposited to the awardees’ bank accounts (in mainland or Hong Kong) directly from CUHK(SZ).
• The awardees will be invited to participate in the Award Ceremony on 8 November 2024 (Friday, 5:30pm – 7:30pm). A round-trip transportation from CUHK to CUHK(SZ) campus, lunch and dinner is provided for free. Participants can choose to return to Hong Kong right after the Award Ceremony-cum-Dinner. Free on-campus accommodation can be provided if needed.
• The awardees are required to arrange a valid visa on their own if visas are needed to enter China.

Activity 2 – Oral Presentation
Date: 8 November 2024 (Fri)
Time: 10:45 am – 5:15 pm
Venue: CUHK(SZ) Campus

The shortlisted participants are required to deliver a 10-minute presentation based on their research to a panel of judges from 10:45am – 5:15pm, 8 November 2024 (Fri) at the CUHK(SZ) campus. The presentations will be divided into parallel sessions for “Humanities & Social Sciences” and “Science & Engineering”.

PPT Specifications:

• All submitted files should be either in the format of .ppt or .pptx.
• Language: English
• No audio/video files are allowed in the PPT.

• 2nd place x 1 for each panel: RMB 1,600
• 3rd place x 1 for each panel: RMB 800
  
• Participation Awards for both Humanities and Sciences panels x 3
• Certificate of participation will also be awarded to all participants

• Quality of delivery
• Outcome of the Research

Remarks:

• The shortlisted participants will be invited to join the Award Ceremony which will be held on the same day (5:30pm – 7:30pm) right after the Oral Presentation.
